Vienna Grand Ball: One of the World’s Best New Year Events

The new year's eve celebration is always looked forward to by many people from all over the world. A great number of them book to attend special events where they eagerly await the spectacle that go with the celebration such as fireworks display, countdowns and wine. 

Several international cities are known for their so-called epic parties, beautiful light shows and fireworks displays and one of them in Vienna. While most New Year celebrations are out on the streets, the Austrian capital holds its event inside the ballroom which is beautifully decorated.

Palaces abound in Europe and Vienna is just one city where these regal structures still rise in grandeur and can still be visited. Many of these palaces and castles are rich in history and although they have been preserved, quite a number have been converted into lodgings.

Vienna's transportation system is one of the best in Europe and the world, according to the International Association of Public Transport. Apart from the buses and tram line that travel around the city, it has an underground railway system called U-Bahn (Untergrundbahn) which provides a faster travel time for commuters. 

It is referred to as a rapid transit system. In the year 2009 alone, more than 1.3 million people rode the U-Bahn on a daily basis. In 2010, the number went up to more than 534 million. 

Traveling Dinosaur Exhibition

Vienna residents and visitors have something to entertain themselves this holiday break. A traveling exhibition featuring the dinosaurs of the past is now in the Austrian capital in time for the New Year celebration. 

The Vienna stop is part of the European tour and the good news is that it will stay in the city until February 9. Make sure then that you bring the  whole family and your friends to the former St. Marx slaughterhouse where the exhibit is currently being held. 

Vienna Sets New Tourism Record

Numerous travelers from all over the world love going back to Vienna for a lot of reasons. While some travel there on official business or for work purposes, many visit the Austrian capital to spend a wonderful holiday with loved ones or friends. 

Tourism is a major contributor to the country's economy, account for nearly nine percent of Austria's gross domestic product.

The Kursalon is a popular place during the Christmas season owing to the concert with dinner it offers to guests in a stylish surrounding. The gala dinner normally takes place at the Restaurant Johann starting at 6 p.m.

Perfektastrasse Welcomes Camper Vans

Camper vans are always welcome in Vienna and many of these vehicles visit the city during the advent season. Did you know that Vienna accommodates an estimated 51,000 camping tourists each season?

The Austrian capital has a special place where mobile homes can stay for a few days while its occupants tour the city. If you and your partner or family are traveling to Vienna via camper van, you need to know that there's a new site where you can stay the night. It's the Perfektastrasse in Liesing, considered one of the biggest camper van sites in Europe. 

Adopt a Skull Campaign for Museum

A unique collection of skulls started by an Austrian anatomist is now up for adoption. If you want to preserve something as exquisite as this, it's time you adopt a skull.

Originally, the skulls were collected by Joseph Hyrtl, an Austrian scientist born in 1810. He studied medicine in the Austrian capital of Vienna and then started collecting the skulls that now total 139. Each skull has an information on the identity of the person and how he or she died.

New Year Musical Events in Vienna

Vienna residents and visitors who will be in the Austrian capital this December until January can enjoy the beautiful Viennese music in not just one venue but three. These musical concerts will take place to welcome the New Year and will be conducted by Daniel Baremboim.
