In the world of fashion, Vienna has been hosting its Vienna Awards for Fashion and Lifestyle. This event was first organized by Marjan Firouz and is now on its 6th year. 

Vienna Zoo Turtle Travels to India

How lucky can one Vienna Zoo turtle get! This male turle from the Schoenbrunn Zoo estimated to be 30 years old is actually endangered and he is traveling to India with a purpose. 

For his trip to India, the Vienna Zoo turtle will meet up with two female turtles from Northern River Terrapin also known as Batagur Baska. He will act as the breeding mate. The two females have been on a hunt for a mate for more than a year and in an effort to help them, the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust employees near Chennai has requested Schoenbrunn Zoo to send over their male turtle. 

Austrian Grand Prix Needs Muses

The Austrian Grand Prix is scheduled in July this year and in line with this, some pretty grid girls are needed to serve as muses during the event. To qualify for the search for the 50 Formula Unas, interested ladies must be pretty, charismatic and energetic. 

For the grand prix, the young women who will be lucky to be selected will wear the traditional Dirndl dres of Austria. They will be tasked to hold up the flags, help at presentation ceremoniese and represent Austria at the parties. 

Plants and Seedlings Swap Fair

Vienna has always something new to offer to its people and visitors. In addition to the yearly festivals, other interesting and unique events take place every now and then in the different parts of the city.  

One of them is the free swap of plants and seedlings. Called the swap fair, the event allows garden growers to exchange their plants and seedling for new varities. This year, the swap fair will take place towards the end of April. 

Shakespeare Day Festival

The famous playwright William Shakespeare has a huge following in Vienna. In fact, there's an English language book store in the Austrian capital that carries the name Shakespeare & Company. 

The Shakespeare & Company bookshop is situated in Vienna's first district and caters to English language books. It sells books and magazines on a wide range of subjects coming from around the world. The numerous books offered in the store cover classical and contemporary literature, books on art, music and theater, academic books and those written by Austrian writers.

Vienna is not only known for its music and beautiful historical landmarks. When it comes to food, it is also famous for the schnitzel, sacher torte, pastries and other sweet treats.

E-Bikes Gaining Popularity in Austria

Electric bikes are in trend these days particularly in Europe. Since German company Bosch launched its e-bikes in 2011, the mode of transportation has experienced a major boom in the continent. 

Statistics show that in 2013, some $139 million have been generated from the sales of e-bikes while more than 400,000 units were sold in Germany. In 2012, an estimated 854,000 bikes were sold in the entire Europe alone. Interestingly, one in 10 bikes in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland are the electronic type.
