Leopold Museum

Art lovers visiting the Austrian capital can feast their eyes on plenty of art works in the different museums and galleries in the city. The Leopold Museum is one must-visit destination for tourists. 

Situated in the Museumsquartier, the museum boasts of one of the largest collections of modern Austrian art. Well known artists featured here are Gustav Klimt, Richard Gerstl, Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka. 

What’s unique about visiting the Leopold Museum is that visitors can purchase image rights and order digital copies of their desired reproduced art works from the museum’s collection. The fee depends on the medium, type and number of copies required. 

Visitors looking for souvenirs can visit the Leopold Museum Shop. A collection of postcards, catalogues, art books, prints, silk scarves, jewellery or designer items are available there. 

Should you want to take some snacks or have coffee, the Cafe Leopold is also in placce. The coffeehouse offers meals for breakfast and lunch as well as a wide range of coffee and drinks. At night, the place is transformed into a bar where a DJ regularly plays music at periodical concerts. 

From October 9 to January 11, 2016, Leopold Museum will host “A Rush of Color exhibition. This will showcase outstanding masterpieces of German Expressionism from the Osthaus Museum in Hagen. 

The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. except on Tuesdays.
