Vienna Spittelberg

If dining and wining are what you crave to experience while in Vienna, the Spittelberg is the perfect place to be. Situated in the Biedermeier district just next to the MuseumsQuartier, the area boasts of numerous cafes, bars and restaurants some of which have beautiful gardens in their courtyards.

Here you will find small lanes and charming Biedermeier buildings that offer a romantic ambience to couples who want to relax after dark. The bars in the area range from the rustic type to the more trendy ones where students often hang out.

Outdoor dining or what is locally known as Schanigarten is famous here particularly during the summer months. The Viennese love to be outdoors when dining or enjoying their favorite coffee and snacks not only when it’s summer but even all year round.

Witwe Bolte is the oldest restaurant in the Spittelberg area and offers a wide range of Viennese cuisine including those for vegetarians. The newest dining place is Kussmaul, a bar, cafe-pattiserie and restaurant in one. Known as having the very highest standard, it serves creative dishes courtesy of Mario Bernatovic.
