Wiener Festwochen

Cultural events are always part of Vienna all year round. They are worth attending as they provide insights into the city’s rich history and culture. Owing to these valuable events, the Austrian capital has been known as a cultural metropolis.

This month of May until June, visitors and locals can experience Wiener Festwochen. Established in 1951, this activity was originally organized to show to the world that Vienna can engage in cultural events despite the destructions caused by the war.

Today, although the Wiener Festwochen serves a different function and focuses on art, it still covers culture. It aims to inspire discussions concerning current artistic production as well as non-artistic developments.

Apart from showcasing Viennese creativity, this particular festival also presents spectacular productions, joint productions and guest performances. It also offers opportunities to experience cultural productions from abroad and a universal discussion of art and culture.

Vienna has so much to offer when it comes to cultural places covering theaters, museums and galleries. These include the Burgtheater, State Opera, Volkstheater, Volksoper, Raimundtheater, Theater in der Josefstadt, Theater an der Wien, the Ronacher, Konzerthaus and Musikverein.
