Austrian Dinner Show

Vienna is famous for being the European Music Center since the age of classic Viennese Classicism during the early part of the 20th century, which is why a visit to the city is not complete without watching an opera or a musical.

The Austrian dinner show is a musical journey that showcases “traditional folklore tunes and colorful dances, a spirited landler from the Alps, romantic arias from Salzburg and famous Waltzes and operettas from Vienna”. The performance boasts of talented musicians, vocal soloists and dancers who will enchant guests with their performance in between dinner courses. It is held at the Wiener Rathauskeller, which is at the basement of the Vienna City hall. Its newly renovated parlors boast of a great ambiance and impeccable service. The dinner show costs 56 Euros and it includes a three course Viennese menu.  

The musical experience begins with “Roses from Tirol” from the operetta “Der Vogelhändler – The Bird Seller”. It includes instrumental pieces and a dance performance to the tune of “Zillertaler Hochzeitsmarsch – Zillertal Wedding March”.

The second scene is “The Sound of Music” with excerpts from “Im Weissen Rössl”, an Edelweis from the “Sound of Music”. After, the dancers cap it off with lively dance music from the Alps (landler).

The third and last scene is”The Blue Danube”. The highlight of the show features work of the famous operetta composers cuch as Johann Strauss, Franz Lehar and Robert Stolz. Listen to songs from the “The Gypsy Baron”, “Wiener Blut” and “The Merry Widow”. As the night ends, dancers perform the Tritsch Tratsch Polka. Thereafter, a ballet ensemble performs to the “The Blue Danube” which is tagged as the greatest waltz of all time.
