Camping in Vienna

Camping is a favorite pastime of many Austrians including those in the capital Vienna. Some tourists who love the outdoors also prefer to camp while the city. The whole of Austria boasts of green and lovely camping environments which couples, families and groups of friends can surely enjoy.

One of the most popular camping sites in Vienna is Wien Sud located in the center of a former Palace Park on the southwestern part of the city. It spans 2.5 hectares with meadows and lots of old trees in the area. You might even spot some beautiful birds and friendly squirrels among the trees while you’re there. 

Despite its proximity to the city  center (10 kilometers away) and the famous Palace Schonbrunn (five kilometers), there is every chance to experience a truly relaxing holiday in the Camp Wien Sud. Families can do many activities while taking a holiday here from playing outdoor sports and going picnic to biking, hiking or jogging.

Those who wish to purchase some souvenir items can simply go to the Shopping City Sub nearby, considered as one of Europe’s biggest malls.

Another camp site highly recommended to visitors is the Wien West. Situated at the edge of Vienna Woods, the place features hiking and mountain bike trails. It is easily accessible to public transportation and a good starting point for your holiday in the Austrian capital.

Since it is near the city center, you have the opportunity to see the beautiful sights around without having to take your car. Some 25 bungalows are in place as well and you can book them from April through October. They are fully furnished and for those who would like to cook, a guest kitchen is available nearby.
