Museum of Military History

The history of armies and warfare, of technology and science and of art and architecture are blended in a unique way in the Austrian Military Museum in Vienna. It is located in the center of the Arsenal and was built according to the plans of Ludwig Foerster and Theophil Hansen, who anticipated the architectural style of the Ringstraße.

Military Museum in Vienna

Today the Austrian Military Museum, which is the oldest museum in Vienna, displays the history of the Habsburg Monarchy from the end of the 16th century to 1918 as well as Austria‘s destiny after the break-down of the Monarchy until 1945. The military and naval past sets up the priority of the permanent exhibition.
