Vienna residents and visitors who will be in the Austrian capital this December until January can enjoy the beautiful Viennese music in not just one venue but three. These musical concerts will take place to welcome the New Year and will be conducted by Daniel Baremboim.
The venues will be at the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Volksoper and the Musikverein. The Vienna State Opera House is an opera house which accommodate productions of both children and adults and has been the venue of the Vienna Opera Ball. It also has an opera school for young boys and girls aged between 8 and 15.
The Vienna Volksoper, on the other hand, accommodates more than 300 performances of 25 productions from September through June while the Musikverein is a concert hall and the home of the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra.
Being a New Year event, the Vienna Philharmonic will be in the lead in these performances. Also to be featured are the different versions of the Die Flaudermaus operetta.
The famous opera of Johann Strauss will be performed in two versions – one interpreted in a new style by Heinz Zednik at the Volksoper while the other one will be an Otto Schenk production with Bertrand de Billy as conductor.
