Party at the Donauinselfest

June 25 to June 27, Vienna lifes up to its name of music capital of Europe. The city is gearing up for the Donauinselfest. This yearly three-day Danube Island Festival has been in existence for 25 years now. It’s a free music festival held in an open-air venue which local residents and visitors can enjoy.

Popular among the youngsters, this event is considered one of the largest youth parties in Europe and the biggest open air event in the continent. In fact, it is already nearing the 3 million mark for the number of people attending this music festival.  Music is not the only attraction here because there’s also dancing as well as food and drinks to be had at the venues.

Music lovers have the golden opportunity to experience various music genres during this festival. Free concerts are spread out in the different areas of the Danube Island with more than 2,000 new and returning musicians performing their own kind of music with much gusto. A total 13 stages are set up to accommodate artists in the areas of pop, rock, Latin, soul, jazz, blues, hip hop, electronic and hard rock. For fans of classical music, this is your chance to catch the Vienna Symphony Orchestra perform in an open air concert usually on a Monday evening.

Thousands of volunteers and policemen provide security to ensure that the Danube Island music festival proceeds without a hitch. So there’s no need to worry about being in a crowded concert venue during this event. 

No need to bring food as well because more than 20 catering stands will be on the 4.5-kilometer party venue. Attendees can choose from a wide range of sumptuous food and drinks available.
