Rainbow Ball 2013

Ball fever has once again taken over the cultural city of Vienna and one of the most anticipated this season is the Rainbow Ball. On its 16th year, the “Wiener Regenbogenball” will take place on February 2nd at the magnificent and newly-renovated Parkhotel Schonbrunn.

The Rainbow Ball is one of the most exciting and well-attended activities for the LGBT communities in Vienna and their friends. And unlike other gay and lesbian events, the Rainbow Ball sees all the participants dressed in their formal best. This year the ball theme is “Falling in Love Again” and will open with the ceremonial entry of the organizing committee followed by classical waltz dances which will go on through the night. There will be a live orchestra which plays on the main stage.

Special highlights of the evening include a midnight show by singer Andy Bell and the public quadrille where all the guests dance in the ballroom led by master choreographer and dancer Wolfgang Stanek. Live performances throughout the night will be given by artists such as Lucy McEvil, Murielle Stadelmann, Conchita Wurst, LGBT dance troupe Les Schuh Schuh and the ladies band of Damenkapelle Johann Strauss along with DJs and many more. Like most of the other classical balls, the Rainbow Ball is a fund-raising event for the benefit of HOSI Wien (Homosexual Initiative Vienna), the largest umbrella organization for gays and lesbians in Austria.

Tickets to the Rainbow Ball are not sold online but may be purchased from the Gugg Café, Bookstore Lowenherz, Dancing School Stanek and at the Café-Restaurant Willendorf.
