Vienna Ice Dream

The fun never stops in Vienna, even with a chill in the air and snow on the ground. After the wondrous Christmas markets and the euphoric New Year’s Eve revelry now it’s time for some winter skating fun. So put on your warm coats and bring your ice skates to the Rathausplatz in front of the City Hall. The entire square will be transformed into a massive ice skating and winter fun place for kids of all ages.

Der Wiener Eistraum is an annual event that the locals look forward to and attract hundreds of thousands of visitors. Two large ice skating rinks will provide hours of entertainment for the crowds, along with plenty of stalls that will offer punch, tea, sweets and local food treats such as hot potatoes, crepes and raclette. There will also be a DJ playing live music. From 5:00 pm on weekdays, an area will also be used for curling enthusiasts and at night the entire ice skating rink will be bathed in dazzling and colorful lights.

The Vienna Ice Dream will be open from January 24th until March 3rd. For more ice skating fun you can also check out other places in the city such as the Engelmann ice rink, the first open-air man-made ice rink in the world; the Albert Schultz Ice Rink which is an indoor arena and home to the Vienna Capitals ice hockey team; the Ice rink at the Wiener Stadthalle; and the park turned ice-rink at the Wilhelminenberg Palace.
