When it comes to talent, Vienna has plenty to be proud of. Whether it’s dance, voice, music production, painting, writing and sculpting, the Austrian capital has produced so many talents.
In terms of voice, Vienna is famous for its various choral groups the most famous of which is the Vienna Boys’ Choir. A private and non-profit organization, the choir is made up of boys aged from 10 to 14 and selected from the different parts of Austria. The group regularly performs in their own concert hall called MuTh and in the Hofburg chapel.
It is not surprising then why Vienna hosts various festivals of choirs each year. These include the international festival of choirs and orchestras. the Franz Schubert choir competition and festival and the latest Voice Mania.
Voice Mania focuses on vocal art and vocal acrobatics and will run until December 6. This year, some 40 soloists and groups from 19 countries around the world are taking part. Apart from the usual singing, the participants also have the skills in humming, whistling, yodeling, rocking, flicking and grooving and they can perform with or without accompaniment.
Among the programs included in this year’s Voice Mania are The Long Night of the A Capella, a children’s program and the A Capella Open Mic Casting Show. A first for this year is the Voice Mania Short Cuts featuring beatboxing, freestyle session, vocal artistry and body acrobatics.
