Biking Events in Vienna

Vienna boasts of a biking lifestyle that not only helps in reducing the city’s carbon footprint but promotes health and fitness among locals and visitors as well.

Each year, the city hosts various events involving bicycles from challenging races to simple get togethers of bikers with a purpose.

British Tweed Bike Ride

This event takes place each year normally towards the end of April with the goal of celebrating British fashion and style.

Bikers taking part in this ride are dressed in vintage clothes and flat caps for the women and knickerboxer trousers for the boys. Apart from having their own fashion style, they also need to be aware of the cycle safety regulations on the road.

This year, some 60 cyclists joined the free bike ride around the city. It was the third mass bike ride organized by Tweed Ride, a not for profit organization that’s also behind previous events such as the Extreme Ride that covered 190 kilometers from Vienna to Linz.

Other similar events lined up for this year are a bicycle picnic scheduled on June 22 and another Tweed Ride on September 12.

Argus Bike Festival

The Argus Bike Festival also takes place in the month of April specifically at the Vienna City Hall Park. Considered as Austria’s major bicycle event, this event kicks off the city’s biking season and features a bicycle trade show, programs including contests and test parcours.

Bicycle Film Festival

The Bicycle Film Festival is an international event that showcases films revolving around bicycles. Held every September, a party is also hosted as well as other interesting biking activities.
