Jazz Festival 2014

Jazz music continues to make its mark around the world. Vienna is one international city that hosts a yearly Jazz Festival to honor this well loved music genre and the artists behind it. 

This year, special performances during the festival will be by Natalie Cole, Al Jarreau, Sinead O'Connor and Jimmy Cliff among others. To be held from June 26th to July 8th in venues spread out around Vienna, there will also be funk, reggae and blues events. Jazz fans can go to Porgy and Bess, Jazzland and Miles Smiles to watch performances by musicians and bands. 

Vienna Museum Hosts World Exhibition

Visitors and local residents in Vienna wanting to explore how the development of the Austrian capital came about should find time to go to the Wien Museum. The so-called World Exhibition show is now going on there and will run until September 28th. 

Featured in this valuable event are the progress of Vienna in the third of the 19th century. These include the new Ringstrasse, mass entertainment, new medicine and technology which have influenced and changed the lives of the Viennese in the past years. 

Schoenbrunn Zoo Opens Polar Bear Section

Good news to animal lovers in Vienna! The Schoenbrunn Zoo has just opened its most awaited polar bear section. 

Called the Franz Josef Land enclosure measuring 1,700 square feet, the section features two polar bears named Ranzo and Lynn. The young  male and female bears came from the zoos in Finland and the Netherlands. So far, the two have adjusted well to each other and to their new environment after arriving in the Austrian capital a few weeks ago. 

Racing Legends to Grace F1 Parade

Formula 1 fans in Austria will have a rare chance of seeing their past favorite racers this coming June. Racing legends that have been a major part of the F1 history will be the guests during the legends parade for the F1 meet in Spielberg. 

The day to mark is June 22nd when the so-called living legends will drive in their original cars. They include Niki Lauda, Gerhard Berger, Jochen Rindt, Helmut Marko, Dieter Quester, Hans Binder, Karl Wendlinger, Alexander Wurz, Patrick Friesacher and Christian Klien. 

Villa Aurora

If a relaxing tour outside Vienna's city center is what you're after, Villa Aurora should be in your itinerary. 

Constructed in 1785, Villa Aurora is a house situated on a hill in the Vienna Woods. It features a graden and a dining terrace offering beautiful nature views. Regardless of the season, this tourist spot is always a great place to visit and spend even a few hours together with your companion or family and friends. 

Karl-Marx-Hof

In Vienna, visitors can still explore many old and historical buildings spread around the city. When it comes to housing, one most notable structure in the Austrian capital is the Karl-Marx-Hof. It is considered one of the best municipal tenement complexes situated in Dobling in Vienna's 19th district. Additionally, it is known as the world's longest ingle residential building. 

Zacherlfabrik

If you're visiting Vienna and looking for places  to experience the contemporary art and music of Austria, never miss the Zacherlfabrik. Located in the high-end 19th district callled Dobling, the building is a great place to learn about the Austrian capital's history and culture.
