Top Art Galleries of Vienna

Vienna is known internationally for its arts and culture. In the field of arts, the city is famous for both its performing and visual arts.

Galerie Krinzinger – This gallery features two schools of art. One is on international performance art and body art featuring Paul McCarthy, Chris Burden, Mike Kelley and Nancy Rubins while the other features Actionism in Vienna covering Herman Nitsch, Otto Muehl and Gunter Brus.

Christine Konig Galerie – The exhibitions and works displayed here are created exclusively for the gallery. Founded in 1989, it has accommodated well known international artists and the budding ones. 

Galerie Steinek – Established in 1982, this gallery on Eschenbachgasse was founded by Silvia Steinek and her father Heinrich. It features the works of Austrian artists such as Ilse Haider, Matthias Hermann and Gudrun Kampl as well as famous international artists including Robety Barry (conceptual artist) and Tony Oursler (video artist). 

Galerie Meyer Kainer – Lovers of contemporary should not miss this gallery. Situated in a former beer hall, the place has no windows and exhibits the works of international artists such as John Bock, Peter Friedl, Liam Gillick, Rachel Harrison, Sarah Morris and Olaf Breuning among many others. 

Galerie Mezzannin – This gallery opened in 1997 and showcases unique contemporary art works done by American and European artists. It also accommodates complex installations as well as out of the ordinary sculptures.
