Global Champions Tour 2012

Fans and followers of horse riding and show jumping will have to plan a trip to Vienna in September. The capital city of Austria will be hosting the 11th round of the Global Champions Tour 2012, the first time for Vienna to be included in the prestigious international show jumping competition series.

The Global Champions Tour is a major equestrian sport competition which gathers “the best in show jumping around the world.” Held mostly in various parts of Europe, the 2012 season which started in April and ends in November has become more exciting with the addition of four new venues – one of them is Austria’s capital gem. From the 20th to the 23rd of September, Rathasplautz plays host to the high-class jumping tournament. Dubbed “Vienna Masters 2012,” the four-day event not only promises a spectacular sport but there is also going to be celebrity riding demonstrations, amateur competitions and a performance by the elite Spanish Riding School.

The Imperial Hofburg Palace will be amongst the majestic backdrops for the Vienna Masters 2012 which will take place right on the City Hall Square. Alongside the riding shows, organizers have prepared for four days and nights of fun-filled activities.

There will be a fashion show, a street fair for products and services related to the sport, cultural performances and food booths that will cater to the anticipated 4,000 visitors during the event. For the first three afternoons, admission to the games will be free to the public. Those who prefer to watch the finals and the top tournaments on the last day will have to purchase tickets.
