Breakfast at Café Prückel

Cafe Prückel

Vienna is famous for its coffee houses and one spot you can go to is Café Prückel. Situated on Ringstrasse in front of the MAK or Museum of Fine Arts, this café offers great tasting coffee specialties and pastries. It boasts of a vintage interior design dating back to the 1950s. You will be served by black tied waiters, with typical Viennese non-chalance; don’t take it for arrogance, it’s just that they serve in the spirit of hundreds of years of history, and you are, after all, just a tourist. Enjoy the typical Viennese coffee house atmosphere plus free internet access.

Visit to the MAK

After breakfast at Café Pruckl, why not drop by the MAK which is just opposite. Known as the Museum of Applied Arts, this place features a wide range of art and even scientific works. Established in 1864 originally as the Imperial and Royal Austrian Museum of Art and Industry, the MAK now not only showcases art and industry but as well as practice and theory and production and reproduction. Here you will find furniture, glass, china, silver and textiles from the olden days on display.

A Walk in the Stadtpark

Stadtpark Vienna

Opposite the MAK, you can go for a stroll in the Stadtpark. This city park is quite large as it extends from the Parkring up to the Heumarkt in the third district. You don’t have to cover the entire park while walking because there are great sights within such as monuments, a spa pavilion, attractive plants and the Meierei or the old milk drinking hall.

Lunch at Fabios

Fabios Restaurant

At lunchtime, visit Fabios Restaurant  for authentic international and Mediterranean cuisine. Owned by an Italian, Fabio Giacobello, this restaurant is spacious and known for its glass walks. It serves scrumptious food plus it has a wine bar which is often jampacked at night time. This place is also popular among the fashionistas.

Afternoon in Prater

Prater

For an entertaining afternoon, going to the Prater is a great option. This amusement park is where you can be a child again. The famous giant Ferris Wheel in Vienna is here and you can ride on it again to see the beautiful city sights from atop. Hundreds of other attractions await you and your family and you can explore them in the park until dark. Check out the chairoplane at the Prater Tower that can take you spinning in the air up to 117 meters high, the Liliputbahn, the museum and the Planetarium among others.
