Life Ball

Elegant balls are part of the Viennese culture. These take place each year and one of them is the Life Ball.

Unlike the other balls, however, the Life Ball is focused on the AIDS campaign and people suffering from it. It is, in fact, one of the world's largest charity and star-studded events.

This year, Vienna's Life Ball is set on May 25 with the theme "1001 Arabian Nights." In line with the theme, the event will feature poetry, fairy tales, fabulous animals and the well-known genies.

The Lobau Water-Forest

Nature lovers, particularly those who love to be close to bodies of water, should find time to visit the Lobau national park. Situated in the 22nd district of Vienna on the eastern side, the place which literally means water-forest features many lake and rivers.

Lobau used to be a floodplain in the northern part of the Danube River. Before the 19th century, the river when it overflows would caused floods in the surrounding area and this resulted in the formation of small side-rivers, lakes and moorlands.

The Nuptial Fountain

In Vienna, there are plenty of artworks displayed in public worth a look. Some date back to the ancient times while the others are more modern and contemporary.

One remarkable structure in the Austrian capital is the baroque nuptial fountain or the Vermählungsbrunnen situated at the Hoher Mrkt Square. Made of marble and bronze, the fountain was constructed from 1729 to 1732. It was designed by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, the court architect, and was executed by his son Joseph Emanuel von Erlach.

Madame Tussauds Vienna Adds New Star Figure

A new wax figure will soon grace the Madame Tussauds Vienna Museum. He's a young (actually teen) male singer who's gained international fame. Yes, it's Justin Bieber, no doubt.

The wax figure of Bieber is now undergoing some finishing touches and the sculptors in the Vienna museum are confident their version of this teen singing sensation will look better than that in the London museum. To create a perfect or almost perfect replica, the stylists in Vienna worked closely with Bieber's personal hair stylist to copy the teen's previous famous hairdo.

Vienna Spring Festival

Spring marks the start of music festivals in Vienna and one that every tourist should find time to witness. And why not because Vienna is the world's capital of classical music.

While musical events are held on a daily basis in the city, one of the best classical music spectacles in Vienna worth experiencing is the Vienna Spring Festival. Held yearly at the Musikverein, the program features the works of famous Viennese musicians such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Christoph Willibald Gluck and Johann Bach in more than 60 concerts.
