Star Wars Invades Vienna

Vienna will have an opportunity to enjoy to get to know Star Wars more as it hosts a unique exhibition. Entitled "Star Wars Identities, the exhibit gives the people of Vienna a chance to experience the hit movies of George Lucas. 

On display at the exhibition at the MAK are collections from the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Chicago. It opened last December 17 just in time for the global launch of the Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens."

Voice Festival

When it comes to talent, Vienna has plenty to be proud of. Whether it's dance, voice, music production, painting, writing and sculpting, the Austrian capital has produced so many talents. 

In terms of voice, Vienna is famous for its various choral groups the most famous of which is the Vienna Boys' Choir. A private and non-profit organization, the choir is made up of boys aged from 10 to 14 and selected from the different parts of Austria. The group regularly performs in their own concert hall called MuTh and in the Hofburg chapel. 

Let’s CEE Film Festival

This month of October, visitors in Vienna can experience one of the city's film festivals. It may not be as big as the Viennale but it's worth attending. 

The Let's CEE Festival is now ongoing and is already on its fourth year. It showcases  some 120 first-class dramatic, documentary and short films created in Central and Eastern Europe. Most of them are Austrian premieres and are shwon in their original language with German or English subtitles. 

International Storytelling Festival

Vienna is one international city that promotes storytelling and poetry reading. Being a cultural city, it values activities that help people gain valuable insights. 

This month of May, the International Storytelling Festival will take place for 11 days from May 20 to 31. The three main venues are Vienna, Styria and Lower Austria. 

Electric Spring Music Festival

If there's one city where music festivals are held all year round, it has to be Vienna. Being the world's music capital, there are already traditional music events that take place in the Austrian capital each year involving classical and modern music. But more are being organized. 

As an example, a new festival for electronic music will take place this April 16 and 17. Set at the MuseumsQuartier, the event will feature current and local electronic music and the best part is there's no fee required to take part in this event. 

Wean Hean Jazz Festival

In a year, Vienna enjoys several music festivals covering various music genres. One of them is the Wean Hean festival which kicks off in April and ends in May. Its name refers to a Vienna dialect that means hearing and listening. 

Vienna Goes Green for St. Patrick’s Day

Vienna is just one city in Austria that celebrates St. Patrick's Day each year. This 2015, avid fans of this celebration donned their green and orange costumes and aimed for the Guinness Book of World Records. 

This weekend, the Burgtheater and Riesenrad are going green for St. Patrick's Day weekend. Meanwhile, the castle in Kaprun and a ski slope in Tyrol's Soll village will also have green lights to commemorate the occasion.
